The University of Linz, Austria, have established a department, Computer Science for the Blind, that supports visually impaired students in a technical and in a pedagogical way. The main support activities of the department are digital preparation of all studying materials such as books, lecture notes and so on, researches and developments on technical support, and educational consulting. Interestingly their activity scope is not limited to studying at the university. For high school students, programs such as information exchange, educational consulting, orientation and mobility training, and computer training are prepared. Also programs such as information exchange, internship, OJT especially IT training about or after graduating are available.
